ANOTHER MEMO

Work has become more taxing and most of the time I found myself struggling to spare some time to routines that I usually (or always) have time for. Two days I guess isn't enough for me to rest my weariness on this job and that some how I'm not thinking to stay on this career on the permanent basis in TRANSCOM - in TELETECH Cainta perhaps.

Some how the environment in TRANSCOM really gets into my nerves, The policies are horrible and somewhat repressive for a typical social norm in the call center environment, there is this so called dress down policy which from what I think there profiteering from their employees, another is this so called restriction in Bio Breaks which I think is a basic violation of any workers rights to take a piss (or even a dump) on the toilet especially if its an emergency. Now the latest of my frustration is that they forbid me to bring a star bucks paper notebook planner because mine is better than theirs.

On top of that  the worse part is that some co-workers in other teams are a bunch of trouble makers. With an environment like this , I could only last on a long period but not on a permanent basis.

In other news ….

MiniTablet being tested in actual wifi
Lately I had been spending my time in refitting and installing programs on my newly purchased Kata 5 inch Mini Tablet which I purchased a few days ago. Unfortunately my new Mini tablet is a much more challenge in refitting and customizing than my Standard Movetab Tablet , given the fact that my Mini Tablets operating system is inferior to my 7inch Tablet. ( KATA Mini Tablet's operating system is android 2.0 , compared to my 7 inch tablet which is android 4.0 ICS)

Being tested in Transcom Facility

The only Main advantage of my Kata Mini tablet is that its really hand held and small enough not to be noticed , Its even smaller than the Samsung galaxy phones on appearance. The only problem I had is that this tablet is underpowered and its OS system cannot be upgradable, in other words some apps and games cant be installed and has only limited support , and I'm stuck with it but the good news is that since I'm not the heavy web browsing and just mostly use it mainly for social web sites and such , I guess having a mini tablet will be sufficient enough for those functions. The Mini Tablet I'm using will act like similar to a PDA device , since most work will be handled offline and such like using it as an ebook reader , document viewer and mostly office related stuff that doesn’t require heavy CPU usage, though It has online capabilities.

For now two experiments that I made using my mini tablet inside TRANSCOM showed positive results and went well than I hoped for.
After completing the test

In other news related to work

I met Christian Cruz at the hallway of 4th floor transcom when I was in the hurry for work and had a brief chat with him about how are things doing in TV department, according to our conversation. The brass on the TV department wants to add a new metric score on the TV department called Csat ,Unfortunately both me and C.Cruz didn’t like this new idea that will be coming up on the fact that this just more of a burden for us call center agents here at TRANSCOM and I had no idea, why the  fuck the management here wants to put this kind of metrics, anyway I guess Christians guess is as good as mine and we find it much an annoyance rather having an additional metric around.

To simply say it , the TV department will be  subjected more on how to please customers rather than solving the problem, and chances are here in the call center the customers are not most of the time  right . In handling British callers most of them are rude , but not bastards and they're much more nicer compared to Americans.

(Csat by the way is a form of score card and is a survey form given to callers, either by phone or email and they rate and give comments to the telephone operator on how they handled the call)

In another matters

Clothes i use as a "Front"
Dress code policy is getting tougher here and according to the memo that was posted , anyone who is caught wearing casual clothes during Monday's to Thursdays without a payable dress down pass will be subjected to termination. Honestly I find this rule to be repressive and somewhat profiteering at the same time, and on my end I find it disadvantageous on the fact that I only got one set of business  formal clothes and wearing it for four days is not that comfortable. Anyway as a counter measure on this , I'm changing my travel clothes to look more like semi formal in some extent - just for the props in order for me not to get any attention from the security guards in going to work.

Instead of wearing a T-shirt  ,denim pants and sneakers . I changed to wearing a polo shirt , pants and black shoes. Honestly this outfit isn’t that comfortable to be used as travelling clothes , I don’t like wearing those clothes at all but I need it to get past the guards, after that I will take a shower on the shower room and change to more comfortable clothes that I had in my backpack.

Good thing though that guards here are not relentless as compared to Sykes call center, and they're just concentrated mostly on the entrance of TRANSCOM building. I'd just have to get past them and everything will be alright. One think I should bear in mind that once I get inside I have to stay inside the building until my work shift ends, otherwise  the guards will be reporting me to the HR and be fired on the spot.

I have to keep in mind that I have to stay low and avoid getting attention to the guards as much as possible.

Lastly here's another office memo I had received on the LAN email in the office

Team,
Your safety and security is paramount to us and therefore I want to remind all of you again:
1)      Please do not walk around town with your Transcom Lanyard around your neck. BPO Staff are targets for robbers and muggers. You don’t want to be advertising that you belong to a BPO as well.
2)      There are unmarked FX operating closer to some of our locations and pretending to be PUV. Please observe the signage on the PUV before getting into them.
3)      With the implementation of Unionbank ATM’s, please try and withdraw the monies for your needs in our offices and not from an ATM in public areas, especially whilst wearing the Transcom Lanyard.
4)      When withdrawing monies and unless you have specific needs, please do not withdraw your entire salary. Some of our employees have been mugged on their way home and lost their wallet with their entire salary.
I have written to Philippines National Police (PNP) to install a PNP Outpost close to our facilities. This will take some time to get approved but the process is underway. We are also looking at PNP Cars parked close to our facilities to deter any suspects hanging around waiting for our staff!
Again, I don’t want to alarm anyone. The objective is to be safer rather than being sorry and this is sent out in the best interest of your safety and security.
Thank you

Hell why would i go to so much trouble on a mobile phone plans that are not eventually fair on their employees. Here's what i found out that is much more fair from smart communications themselves, which is definately a much better offer than the monthly salary deduction. if a helpless REGULAR employee , signs up for transcom for salary deduction on this so called mobile plan then , god knows on how much transcom might deduct to that employee. Maybe even more than 300 PHP plan perhaps.

Be very careful in signup on almost everything in transcom. cause chances are you might get less than what you wished for .....

Subject: Dress Code Policy
Dear Employees,
We have noticed that there have been rampant violations of our Dress Code Policy.
Most violations are committed by those who do not have Dress Down Tickets. In this light, we would like to remind everyone that Dress Down Ticket serves as immunity to wear Dress Down instead of Business Attire from Monday to Thursday.  Furthermore, Dress Down Ticket is NOT compulsory. It is an option.
Hence, if you do not have dress down ticket, strict adherence to Dress Code Policy must be observed.
For Dress Code Policy information, please visit COM or you may click the link below.
Note that Non-Adherence to the Dress Code Policy will result to issuance of NTE.
Thank you for your usual cooperation.

AND heres another memo i dug up on the intra net , remember the reason why they put a union bank  atm machine on the 4th floor right beside the canteen facilities ??? here's why , its seems that by march 2013 all transactions / withdrawals using a non union bank atm machine will now be CHARGEABLE and transcom isn't going to cover up your ass for it

heres the memo

Unionbank ATM
Team,
Unionbank has now completed the installation of their ATM Machines in all of our sites.
The agreement we had with Unionbank was that once the ATM’s are installed and stable, we will then incur ATM Withdrawal fees when you use non-Unionbank ATM’s more than twice a month.
We have negotiated with Unionbank to have these fees become applicable effective March 1, 2013, giving us sufficient time to ensure the installed ATM machines are performing well and we have no issues at all.
Please be advised accordingly.
Thank you
